You can learn more about our emergency first aid at work course by getting in touch with a member of our team. We have briefly outlined what the course entails below.
If you work in an office, shop or other low hazard environment and are aged 16 or older, then this course is perfect for you. For most organisations, first aider is a key position that must be filled at all times (small businesses aren’t typically required to have an active first aider). If your organisation has identified such a need, you’ll be happy to hear that our first aid at work training has been designed from the ground up to meet this requirement.
Please note that the emergency first aid at work course is not suitable for organisations that operate in hazardous environments. Due to the nature of these environments and the accidents that may likely occur, it is suggested that you undertake the ‘First Aid at Work Course’ instead.
The courses for emergency first aid at work provided by Orchid Risk are delivered by industry-approved and certified instructors. This course fully encompasses the requirements laid out in L74 – The Healthy and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. So you can be assured that everything you learn will be relevant and up-to-date.
The emergency first aid at work course covers a wide range of areas and combines theory with practical exercises to ensure that the learner fully understands what they’ve been taught. You will be taught to assist someone who is:
Furthermore, this course provides information on other areas too, such as managing an emergency, assessing a casualty, electrical incidents, post-incident procedures and the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH). You’ll also be instructed on where and how to get assistance. Your practical skills will be continuously assessed by the trainer throughout, and there will be a written assessment at the end of the course.
In order to undertake the emergency first aid at work course, you must be able to physically demonstrate the ability to perform the practical elements. For instance, performing CPR requires the ability to remain in the kneeling position for longer than two minutes. You do not require any prior medical training to qualify for this course.
To avoid ‘skill fade’, it is suggested that you update your training at least once a year. As mentioned above, you will receive the FAA Level 2 Award for completing this course, and this is valid for three years.
